FAQ

Answers to our most popular questions

  • What is BFA?
Brazilian Futsal Academy exists to fill a gap in the technical development of soccer players in Canada. Futsal training offers a far better learning environment for children to gain technical skills and confidence. Our methodology promotes hard work, developing good training habits, and lots of repetition of movement and ball mastery. We strongly believe that desire and hard work are the ingredients to success and we instill that in all our students.
  • Who is running the classes?
All our staff have completed background checks and hold coaching certifications through BC Soccer, Canada Soccer or other Football Federations. They also attend BFA and Futsal courses which provide the understanding of how to deliver our extensive syllabus.
  • How are coaches trained to run classes?
At Brazilian Futsal Academy new staff must complete several weeks of 'shadowing' a senior coach and complete their online training modules before a practical assessment. Continued education is part of each staff member's development through Canada's coaching network, NCCP, BC Soccer and Canada Soccer Association.
  • How does the Brazilian Futsal Academy program work?
Brazilian Futsal Academy provides a structured soccer education to children from the ages of 5-15. Children move through the different levels of coaching based upon their technical level and not by age. Our age bands are deliberately broad to help in matching the class with the stage the player is at. We teach movement and ball mastery, moves, turns, etc following our syllabus and these are then used and practiced playing Futsal. Futsal is a fast, compressed game that is played 3v3, 4v4 or at most 5v5 on an indoor court.
  • Are there Separate Girls’ Programs?
Yes but only at youth ages, 14 and older or when we are asked by clubs and teams. For players age 5 to 13 we prefer to have boys and girls train and play together.
  • Can Parents Watch Classes?
Yes, space permitting we are happy to have parents stay and watch the training.
  • What kind of equipment does my child need?
For training the children should wear comfortable sports shirts, shorts, and long socks to cover shin guards. Please also bring a full water bottle to stay hydrated during and after their class. We encourage that most families will support our team and purchase the Brazilian Futsal Academy training shirt for their kids.
